Labelling Buildings scheme for Open House London

labelling_buildings_01

Following the successful implementation of a temporary wayfinding solution for London 2012 Olympics, we are delighted to have the opportunity to be involved in another high profile public wayfinding and signage project for London.

And what a panoramic setting it was to mark the start of our strategic involvement with OpenHouse and its Labelling Buildings scheme: a reception evening held at the RIBA awarded, 40-storey landmark building, the 'Gherkin'.

The Labelling Buildings scheme is a new joint initiative project between OpenHouse, Minale Tattersfield's wayfinding design team in collaboration with visitor interaction consultant Colin Mulberg and app creators Digital Opportunities.

The Labelling Buildings Scheme is being trialled across a limited number of sites this year including:

Lumen URC - 88 Tavistock Place, London WC1H 9RS
Isis Education Centre - Hyde Park, London, W2 2UH
Adobe Village Hounslow Infant School - Martindale Road, Hounslow TW4 7HE
Strawberry Hill House - 268 Waldegrave Road, Twickenham, TW1 4ST
Almeida Theatre - Almeida Street, Islington, London N1 1TA

If the pilot is deemed a success and seen to add value to the overall visitor experience (part of a bigger London scheme), Labelling London may grow to incorporate permanent signage in future years, the potential of which is a very exciting prospect for our wayfinding team.

OpenHouse London 2013, the capital’s greatest architectural showcase, takes place the weekend of 21st and 22nd September.

With hundreds of unique and celebrated buildings opening their doors to the public for free, it promises to be a great day out as well as an opportunity to learn how good design can make London a more liveable, vibrant and enjoyable experience.

We extend our thanks and gratitude to Lintech for providing us at short notice with innovative and recyclable eco-friendly signage materials including graphic film for a series of freestanding and mounted signs.
